Ruthless

It's all over finally as Mehidy becomes Tahir's second and final victim of the evening. South Africa have won by a resounding margin of 200 runs. They have swept this series 3-0. Nothing went right for Bangladesh right from the start. Their bowling attack was once again torn apart even from the newcomers this time and their batting crumbled as expected, chasing a daunting 370. It's time for them to regroup now for the two T20Is.

Just a formality now

Mashrafe edges one behind to the wicketkeeper and Paterson has his third of the day. Bangladesh need more than 200 and they have only two wickets left. This is ending any moment now.

Two for Markram

Dream debut! A half-century and now two wickets! Markram is having a memorable outing as Sabbir only gets a thin outside edge in his attempt to send Markram out of the park. Number seven goes down for Bangladesh.

Shakib departs

The allrounder fails to make use of the chance he got from the hands of AB. The acting skipper failed to grasp a chance after Shakib got a top edge but then just one ball later, Markram gets rid of the Bangladesh superstar. Shakib connects one cleanly but it's hit straight to the deep midwicket fielder.

Lone-man fighting

Shakib has been batting well today. He is the only batsman putting up a fight amidst the ruins from the other end. He now gets to a half-century which is well appreciated by the small Bangladesh contingent. The visitors are 93 for 5 now.

First wicket for Mulder

He is elated! Look how much it means for him. Mulder is just 19 years old and it's his first wicket in international cricket for South Africa. Mahmudullah goes for a swipe but misses the ball completely as it hits his pad. The umpire's finger goes up immediately. Bangladesh are five down in the 15th over.

Procession continues

Rahim was going nowhere with that knock and he knew it was make or break time. Phehlukwayo is introduced into the attack by stand-in-skipper de Villiers and the batsman decides to take him on. All he could manage is only a top edge that is pouched by Rabada. South Africa are elated. Bangladesh are in tatters.

Top order gone

He falls for the one that was bowled well outside off. Sarkar will be gutted with that shot. He edges one behind to the slip cordon where Markram takes his first catch in ODI cricket. This is shocking stuff!

Another one bites the dust

Liton Das has a chat with Soumya Sarkar and decides not to review it. Right call that one as the replays confirm that the ball would have clipped the leg stump. Bangladesh are in big trouble so early in a 370 chase. Paterson gets his second and Mushfiqur Rahim is now out in the middle. They need to stem the fall of wickets.

Early wicket

Imrul Kayes wants to take on Dane Paterson but fails in his execution. He isn't able to clear the mid on fielder and is caught by Behardien. Bangladesh under the pump right at the start as Liton Das strides in.

Flurry of boundaries to kickoff

First ball of the match is dispatched for a boundary by Bavuma. Not good signs early on for Bangladesh. It's a big game for Bavuma, he made a ton on his debut but hasn't played the format since then. The competition for spots is very tough and he hasn't been able to break in as a result. In Amla's absence, he would like to send a gentle reminder yet again. Bangladesh open with spin at the other end and Mehidy is already finding some turn. But de Kock has countered it on the backfoot to crack three boundaries. Interesting start to this game!

Toss - SA opt to bat

It could turn out to be a long day on the field once again for the Bangladeshis. Faf has won the toss and the hosts will bat first. They want the likes of Bavuma and Markram to have a crack. Willem Mulder makes debut alongside Markram.

Teams:

Bangladesh (Playing XI): Imrul Kayes, Soumya Sarkar, Liton Das, Mushfiqur Rahim(w), Shakib Al Hasan, Mahmudullah, Sabbir Rahman, Mehidy Hasan, Mashrafe Mortaza(c), Taskin Ahmed, Rubel Hossain

South Africa (Playing XI): Quinton de Kock(w), Temba Bavuma, Faf du Plessis(c), Aiden Markram, AB de Villiers, Farhaan Behardien, Willem Mulder, Andile Phehlukwayo, Kagiso Rabada, Dane Paterson, Imran Tahir

Build up

4 games, 4 losses is what Bangladesh have endured so far on this tour. It's been nothing short of disastrous for them. After getting a pasting in the Test series, Bangladeshwerehoping for some respite in their most favoured format these days - the 50-over game but they have found it very hard to stop the home side from making merry. South African batsmen, in particular, have been very harsh against this Bangladesh bowling attack. If it was Quinton de Kock and Hashim Amla in the first game, AB de Villiers went bonkers in the second, where he nearly notched up a double ton.

Mushfiqur Rahim shone with the bat in the first ODI but he needs more support if Bangladesh are to pull one back. To make matters worse, they have been depleted by injuries to two key players. Both Tamim Iqbal and Mustafizur Rahman are out and in their absence, the task is only set to get tougher. South Africa have rested Amla for this contest and rightly so. Aiden Markram has been drafted in as his replacement so it will be interesting to see if he gets to make a debut. Temba Bavuma, who made a century in his only ODI so far, is also in contention.
