Bangldesh were totally outplayed today. Apart from Mushfiqur Rahim's ton, they had little to take away today. What Bangladesh failed to do well - build partnerships - South Africa excelled in that, and in that lied the difference between the two sides. Thank you for joining us.

Finishes it off with a boundary

It took all of 42.5 overs for South Africa to overhaul Bangladesh's total. Hashim Amla and Quinton de Kock ensured no other batsman had to leave the dressing room when they were chasing. Amla was unbeaten on 110, while de Kock made 168*. Together, they put on 282 runs for the first wicket - the joint third highest partnership for the opening wicket as South Africa registered a comprehensive win to take a 1-0 lead in the ODI series. It is also the highest total chased down in ODIs without losing a wicket.

Another record tumbles

Hashim Amla and Quinton de Kock have posted the highest partnership for South Africa against any opposition, surpassing 256 by David Miller and JP Duminy against Zimbabwe. The score has moved to 257 for no loss in less than 40 overs.

Build Up

After two poor performances in the Tests, Bangladesh will look to revive their fortunes on the South African tour with a better show in the limited-overs series. While the visitors will be without opener Tamim Iqbal, the star all-rounder Shakib Al Hasan has joined the side and that should strengthen the side considerably, apart from the fact that they have done reasonably well in 50-overs cricket in recent years.

South Africa, on the other hand, have been erratic with their form in one-dayers. They were the number 1 side only a few months back, and have been a good team in bilateral series. But the last time South Africa played Bangladesh in a bilateral series, they were handed a series defeat. At home, however, they will be a much tougher proposition. AB de Villiers is set to return to the side.
