Ironically, after seemingly apathetic about touring, Australia will be ruing the Test series against Bangladesh wasn't longer. During the protracted pay dispute saga, it appeared that the tour of Bangladesh was set to be a casualty with Australian players not particularly fussed about it partly due to lingering security concerns.

After a disappointing first Test loss in Dhaka, Australia probably wished the tour never went ahead as the team became a punch line back home from merciless tabloid newspapers even though the defeat was hardly a major upset.

Still, Australia's never-ending woes in the subcontinent reared in Dhaka in a major step back after much goodwill had been fostered in India earlier this year. With Australia not scheduled to visit Asia until early 2019, scheduled to be against Pakistan in the UAE, this was the last opportunity to salvage some lost pride in these conditions.
