The LA28 Organising Committee has stated that the qualification process for the Games will be determined by the respective International Federations (IFs). This clarification comes a day after the International Olympic Committee (IOC) confirmed cricket's inclusion in the 2028 Los Angeles Olympics - with six teams each in the men's and women's categories.

"Organizing committees like LA28 aren't responsible for team qualifications in any sport, those are always handled by the IF," Cassey Wasserman, the chairman of LA 2028, told Cricbuzz on Thursday, leaving the process of selecting the teams in the hands of the International Cricket Council (ICC).
The LA28 boss was responding to a query from this website regarding the criteria for team selection for the Olympics. There was also a specific question about whether the United States teams would automatically qualify for the Games by virtue of being the hosts. His response remained the same.
With only six teams set to compete at the Games, the ICC faces a serious challenge. Whether the spots will be determined by team rankings, continental representation, or through a qualifying tournament is expected to be finalized in the coming weeks. The possibility of having a qualifier, of course, is remote given the crammed international calendar.
