Ireland look to draw inspiration from Tector's enterprising fifty

"He played some fantastic shots and obviously, he's 22, I've given him a bat as well, so maybe he can score some more sixes and maybe get an IPL contract, and I wish him luck," Hardik.

After the victory in the first T20I, India's captain Hardik Pandya had words of praise for the top scorer in the game, and the youngster who had done a rescue act for Ireland - Harry Tector.

"He played some fantastic shots and obviously, he's 22, I've given him a bat as well, so maybe he can score some more sixes and maybe get an IPL contract, and I wish him luck.

"Just look after him well, give him the right guidance. It's not always about cricket; it's about understanding your whole lifestyle and what is at stake. If you can manage that, I'm sure he's going to be around - not just in IPL, in all the leagues in the world," said Pandya.

The actions were, once again, revealing for the kind of approach the two teams have during the short, two-game series. For Ireland, it presents the best chance to grab eyeballs and make a statement for their cricket, both as a team and at an individual level. There is promise of greater reward if they can perform when millions of eyeballs are tuned into the game, just as Tector managed to do in the first T20I with his 33-ball 64.
